Maddy is ecstatic to join The Texas Smoke, hailing from Stahlstown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Kent State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. She was the 23rd pick in the 2017 NPF Draft and signed a three-year contract to play with the Akron Racers. Following her career with the Racers, she continued playing professionally in the American Softball Association (ASBA) for two seasons from 2018-2019. After the ASBA, she started her international playing career in Christchurch, New Zealand where she spent six months playing for the Parklands-Christchurch United Angels. In March 2021, she played for Collecchio in Parma, Italy for their summer softball season.
Between Maddy’s seasons as an athlete, she spent her time coaching as an assistant at Ashland University (2017-2018) and the University of Pittsburgh (2018-2019). She currently coaches SoCal Athletics – Thomas/Grimm 18U, 16U & 14U and serves as the head softball coach at Northwood High School. While at Pitt, she also completed a strength and conditioning internship with the Women’s Basketball Strength Program. Since then, she has been working as a private, group, and team softball instructor as well as performance enhancement specialist. Maddy has also served as an intern with the Kent State Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
Madysen is the daughter of Terry and April Grimm, and has one brother, Taylor. She earned a total of 14 varsity letters in high school including: softball (4), soccer (4), basketball (4) and football (2).
