Echols hails from Newnan, Georgia and was The Texas Smoke’s 14th pick in the 2023 WPF Draft. Charla wrapped up her collegiate career down south in ‘Gator Nation’ at the University of Florida, where she was awarded both the 2022 and 2023 USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50 “Watch List,” the 2022 Team USA Member (World Games Gold Medal), and the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team.

Echols transferred from Michigan State where she played alongside older sister, Ebonee, in 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree in Education Sciences and is currently working on her Master’s degree in Sports Management at the University of Florida.

She is the daughter of Charles and Lillian Echols, Charla comes from a family of athletic women with two sisters, Ebonee and Cherae, who both played softball as well.
