Washington Huskies’ Klingler Selected Second Overall In WPF Draft By Texas Smoke

SEATTLE – Washington infielder Baylee Klingler was selected second overall in the 2023 Women’s Professional Fastpitch (WPF) draft by Texas Smoke on Monday night.

Thus far in her UW career, Klingler has a .427 average with 54 home runs and 195 RBI. She is tied for the program lead with five grand slams in her career and her home runs are tied for fifth in program history. Klingler was named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Pac-12 Triple Crown winner, unanimous First Team All-American and a finalist for USA Softball National Player of the Year last season.

Based out of Austin, the Texas Smoke are led by head coach Tori Tyson in their inaugural season. Klingler will have the opportunity to sign once her eligibility at Washington is completed following the 2023 season.

Ali Aguilar (USSSA Pride) and Taran Alvelo (Smash It Sports Vipers) are two former Huskies currently on WPF rosters. The WPF is a four-team professional league that runs from June 15 to August 7.
